About
the Institute
Co-founders and facilitators Drs. Bruce Berger, Jan Kavookjian, and Bill
Villaume welcome you to the Institute in the learning environment of the
beautiful Auburn
University campus, not far from the
Atlanta
airport.
See
what others have had to say about their AU MITI experience and training impact:
The
program is a packed program filled with many opportunities to apply principles
in MI. The Auburn team carefully guided the
novice participant from understanding key principles to role-playing with a
standardized patient. The experience will leave you with wonderful resources and
skills to apply the next day in your teaching and practice. Having been to other
MI programs, I feel this one is the most tailored for the allied health
professions. You won’t regret thus wonderful learning opportunity.”

"I do
think that AU MITI and the motivational interviewing training was the tipping
point for the Complex Care Management nurses to become more confident when
talking with patients in the complex case management program. When we started we
had 527 open cases. AU MITI training took place in August. We hit our target of
961 cases in late October and by year's end we had 1141 cases open to CCM. This
would not have happened without the training we received. When referred to
Complex Case Management, it is usually when a care team is frustrated with the
progress of the patient. The CCM nurse needed different tools to break through
that clinical inertia. Motivational Interviewing has been that break through for
us."
