Urbandale City Councilman, local pharmacist and pharmacy owner John Forbes will run for the Iowa House District 40 seat currently represented by R-Scott Raecker, who announced earlier this year he will not seek reelection.  Forbes will run as a democrat. 

The 40th House District covers all of Urbandale within Polk County.  It is a new district created after last year’s redistricting process, but its borders are similar to current House district 63, which encompasses Urbandale in Polk County. 

In the press release Forbes is quoted as saying; “As owner of a local pharmacy for over 30 years, I understand how important small businesses are to our economy and I will do all I can in the Iowa House to help other small businesses expand to create new jobs.”
