Innovative
Pharmacy Practice Award
The Innovative Pharmacy
Practice Award recognizes pharmacists who have demonstrated significant
innovations in their respective practices. Developed under the auspices
of the National Council of State Pharmaceutical Association Executives (NCSPAE),
the award is funded by Elan.

Young Pharmacist of the Year Award
The “Young Pharmacist of
the Year Award” is a national awards program sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual and
state pharmaceutical associations. Created in 1987, the award is designed
to fulfill a twofold purpose: To encourage young pharmacists’ participation in
association and community activities and to annually recognize one young
pharmacist in each state for involvement and dedication to the practice of
pharmacy. To be nominated for this award, you much be in your first 10 years of
practice.

The “Bowl of Hygeia Award”
was designed to provide special recognition to a pharmacist who has made
considerable contributions in the area of community service. Co-sponsored
by the Wyeth-Ayerst Company, the award is part of a national awards program

Insight Scholarship Award -
this award is no longer given but is listed here for historical value
The
Insight Scholarship was an award sponsored by the Iowa Pharmacy
Foundation and AmeriSource and supported by the Iowa Pharmacy
Association, Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,
and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. It was designed to
recognize pharmacy student leadership and vision. Students write
essays addressing timely topics and are awarded for their vision for the
profession and ability to clearly articulate ideas and issues. It was
discontinued in 2003,
with Foundation dollars being shifted to other student support
initiatives.

sponsored by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. This award is presented to a

The Patient
Care Partner Award was designed to recognize an innovative and creative practice
that has demonstrated an enhanced level of care in an Iowa community, and brings
health care providers together to better serve their patients. The award
will be presented to a physician, medical practice, clinic, or other health care
provider who has developed a patient care program that works cooperatively with
patients and pharmacists to optimize patient care. The award is sponsored
by Eisai.

Karbeling Leadership
Award
In tribute to the
leadership service provided by the late Jerry Karbeling, the Iowa Pharmacy
Association and the Iowa Pharmacy Foundation have established a special
leadership recognition award for student pharmacists at Iowa’s two colleges of
pharmacy. The award is designed to recognize two student pharmacists (one from
Drake University and one from the University of Iowa) for their contributions to
professional organizations and the political process.

Poster Presentation Award
The
Poster Presentation Award recognizes one original project each year that
advances the practice of pharmacy in Iowa. Poster abstracts are submitted
prior to the IPA Annual Meeting and are utilized to judge award nominees.
The final award selection is based on the overall poster presentation.
Posters are judged on originality/innovation, reproducibility, impact on the
profession, presentation and methodology. The winner is announced at the
Iowa Pharmacy Foundation Breakfast at the Iowa Pharmacy Association’s Annual
Meeting.
