Community Pharmacy Policy & Procedure Manual

IPA has developed a Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual specifically for community pharmacies in Iowa.  This manual will help pharmacies meet the Iowa Board of Pharmacy rules that require pharmacies to establish and implement policies and procedures for all operations of the pharmacy.  (IAC 657-6.2(155A) subsection 14).

The Policy & Procedure Manual is an electronic document that will be sent to your pharmacy on CD.  This electronic document is a template that must be customized to your pharmacy operation.  A policy and procedure manual is a dynamic document that must be continually updated, customized, and reflect the practice of your pharmacy site.  The P&P template is accompanied with clear instructions on how to utilize and implement the P&P Manual.    

The IPA Policy and Procedure Manual comes complete with binder, tabs, and specific instructions for customizing.  Subscribers will receive quarterly emails including pertinent updates to the P&P regarding changes in Iowa law or Board of Pharmacy rules, as well as spotlighted best practices and education related to real-life examples of pharmacy deficiencies.   The cost of the IPA Policy and Procedure Manual is $450 for IPA members.  The price for non-members is $750.  An annual subscription renewal of $100 will keep your pharmacy’s P&P manual up to date through uninterrupted service with quarterly newsletters and updates.

An additional template is also available for pharmacies that provide service to long term care facilities.  It includes policies and procedures specific to licensed long term care pharmacies.  This is available for $100 to IPA members.
