The Journal of the Iowa Pharmacy Association

The Journal of the Iowa Pharmacy Association is published quarterly and is distributed to IPA members as a regular membership service paid for through allocation of membership dues. Subscription rates are available by contacting IPA at ipa@iarx.org.

The Journal of the Iowa Pharmacy Association is transitioning to a peer-reviewed journal beginning in 2009. Great advancements in the quality and credibility of The Journal have been made due the contributions of authors and peer-reviewers across the state.
 

Information for Authors

The Journal of the Iowa Pharmacy Association (JIPA) invites submission of manuscripts concerning topics of interest to the membership of the Iowa Pharmacy Association, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other health professionals.
 

Becoming a Peer-Reviewer of the IPA Journal

IPA is currently looking to its membership to help advance The Journal of the Iowa Pharmacy Association to become a peer-reviewed journal. If you have an area of knowledge, please consider contributing your expertise and becoming a peer-reviewer.

Information about being a peer-reviewer:
  • As a peer reviewer you will only be asked to peer-review up to two articles every 12 months.
  • As peer reviewer, you will have 2 weeks to review an article.
  • Online training via webcast is available for pharmacists interested in becoming reviewers.
  • Not all journal content will be peer reviewed. Submitted articles, review articles, Therapy Update and In Print articles will be peer reviewed. (News articles, editorials, interviews will not be peer reviewed).

Step 1
Complete the survey to indicate your areas of expertise. Journal articles will be sent out to peer-reviewers based on areas of expertise indicated.

Step 2
Complete the webcast training session which details how to peer-review journal articles. 

The webcast covers key points on how to review an article including: reviewer responsibilities and methods of review. Example peer-review comments will be analyzed to guide instruction.

E-mail Anthony Pudlo at apudlo@iarx.org after you have completed viewing the webcast training. Documentation of completion is required prior to reviewing of manuscripts.
