Colleges of Pharmacy
The Iowa Pharmacy Association works closely with the two colleges of pharmacy in Iowa, Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Together, IPA and the colleges work to advance the future of the pharmacy profession in Iowa by providing tremendous patient care opportunities for pharmacists, enhancing the level of care provided to Iowa patients, and furthering pharmacy education for both student pharmacists and pharmacists.
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will prepare future pharmacists for success and leadership in professional fields that offer enormous opportunity and have a tremendous impact on people's lives. At Drake, we are teaching innovative practices for the future of pharmacy—in and out of the classroom. Our emphasis on patient care, team-based learning, creative thinking, and communication skills helps you become leaders, and the hands-on experiences you'll gain in the many different fields of pharmacy—both in the United States and around the world—prepare you for a successful pharmacy career. Plus, you can enhance your future opportunities with a dual-degree or concentration to develop your expertise. Whatever path you choose to pursue, you will find excellent and accessible faculty ready to guide you toward professional success. You will also find many chances to gain practical experience through research projects with professors and exposure to hands-on practice settings around the world. Graduates of the College's PharmD program go on to success in all pharmacy practice settings, with higher than national average board of pharmacy licensure scores, placement rates, and residency placement. Since 1984, nearly 100 percent of our Pharmacy graduates have found professional employment or entered residency or graduate programs within six months of graduating. |
