Summary:

• ITP is a rare, complex autoimmune disorder characterized by low platelet counts (less than 100,000/uL) resulting from both increased platelet destruction and decreased platelet production which can lead to bruising or bleeding and paradoxical thromboembolism.
• Patients often experience easily overlooked symptoms that significantly impair their quality of life such as unexplained fatigue, anxiety or depression and cognitive impairment.
• Pivotal phase 3 data show rapid and durable platelet response, reduced bleeding and need for rescue response, and improved physical fatigue and quality of life measures in patients with persistent or chronic ITP.
