IPA Names Rep. Guy Vander Linden First Recipient of Good Governance Award

Rep. Guy Vander Linden recognized for his support of IPA's PBM legislation.
Good Governance Award 2017
The Iowa Pharmacy Association has awarded its first Good Governance Award to State Representative Guy Vander Linden (R-Oskaloosa). The award recognizes a legislator or government official who has worked strongly on behalf of pharmacy and public health issues.

Rep. Vander Linden was a strong voice as the association pursued legislation in 2014 and 2015 to regulate pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, in Iowa. He worked with pharmacists, the association and stakeholders from both sides to understand the need for this legislation and its impact on the health of Iowans. Under his guidance, the two bills were passed unanimously in the Iowa House on their way to being signed into law.

“Rep. Vander Linden took it upon himself to understand the intricacies of this complex issue,” stated Kate Gainer, Pharm.D., the association's execute vice president and CEO. “Our members deeply appreciate his commitment to serving his constituents and all of Iowa.”

The association presented Rep. Vander Linden with the award during their annual Legislative Day at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines with over 200 members in attendance.
