TRT Leadership Endowment

The Thomas R. Temple Leadership Endowment was established in 2011 to recognize the leadership and commitment of Thomas R. Temple, who served as IPA’s executive vice president and CEO from 1977 to 2011.

Tom served the profession in Iowa for over three decades and was respected across the country for his collaboration, forward-thinking vision and tenacity that led Iowa to the forefront of pharmacy practice. Temple’s vision of a leadership development program that would train young pharmacists for future leadership and engagement sparked the creation of the Leadership Pharmacy Conference in 1989.

Each year, the Leadership Pharmacy Conference 20 pharmacists, 10 each from Iowa and Wisconsin, who have been in practice for three to 15 years are invited to participate in a unique leadership program specifically for new practitioners. Participants receive the training and tools to develop their leadership skills and prepare them for leadership roles within the pharmacy profession. The endowment will support the Leadership Pharmacy Conference into perpetuity.
