Tom Temple, CEO and Executive Vice President of the Iowa Pharmacy Association from 1979 to 2011, passed away on August 14, 2023 with family by his side. After a diagnosis of glioblastoma in March of 2022, Tom continued to inspire those around him with his infectious smile and spirit of optimism to ‘be kind' and ‘keep making a difference.'

The Thomas R. Temple Leadership Endowment was established in 2011 to recognize Tom's legacy and support of pharmacy leadership initiatives across the state and nationwide.

Tom's wish was to create a new scholarship with memorial contributions through the endowment to support student pharmacists at Drake University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. The Thomas & Cathy Temple Scholarship will award two scholarships to student pharmacists annually. These scholarships will be presented to student representatives serving on the IPA Board of Trustees.

In lieu of flowers, Tom and his family ask for memorial contributions to be made to a charity that is meaningful to you. In honor of his legacy, memorial contributions to the Thomas R. Temple Leadership Endowment will support the new Thomas & Cathy Temple Scholarship.
