Pharmacy Practice Initiatives
The IPA Foundation supports practice-based research initiatives and fosters innovative pharmacy practice activities. Over the years, grants and programs supported by the foundation have advanced areas of immunization administration by pharmacists, provision of pharmacy services in community pharmacy practice settings, educational programs on practice advancement in acute care practice settings, residency program development, and demonstration of overall health care savings with the addition of pharmacist services.
Outcomes Innovative Pharmacy Grant Program
The IPA Foundation Outcomes Innovative Pharmacy Endowment was established by the original investors of OutcomesMTM to support innovative pharmacy initiatives in the state of Iowa. The Outcomes Innovative Pharmacy Grant program was established to provide financial support for research, education and promotion of innovative pharmacy practice initiatives within the state of Iowa.
Past Initiatives
New Practice Model - IPA's new practice model was a pilot program to establish tech-check-tech in a community pharmacy setting to allow more time for pharmacists to provide clinical pharmacy services. The results of this project led to legislation in 2018 to allow technician product verification in general practice settings in addition to hospital settings.
Trinity Pioneer ACO MTM Program - IPA worked with the Trinity Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) to integrate pharmacist services into the model. The project promoted the impact of community pharmacist-delivered MTM services on hospital readmission rates, incidence of adverse drug events and healthcare costs for ACO patients.
