Iowa Medicaid’s pharmacy benefit is moving to fee-for-service administration on December 1, 2026—bringing important operational changes for pharmacies and the patients they serve. Join Abby Cate, PharmD, Iowa Medicaid Pharmacy Director, for a timely update on the pharmacy carve-out, including implementation timing, claim-processing considerations, and resources available to support a smooth transition.

The session will also highlight other Medicaid developments, including Iowa Health and Wellness Plan community engagement requirements and dispensing fee changes. Pharmacists and pharmacy teams are encouraged to bring their questions for an interactive discussion focused on what to expect, what to prepare for, and how to help patients navigate upcoming changes.

Abby Cate, PharmD, currently serves as Pharmacy Director for Iowa Medicaid. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2015 and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Organizations from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business in 2011. Her pharmacy experience includes hospital, community, specialty, and managed care practice. Before joining Iowa Medicaid, she served on the Iowa Medicaid Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutics Committee from 2021–2023. She has also been active with the Iowa Pharmacy Association and in her local community.
