While IPA's bill to reign in harmful PBM practices was moved out of the House Commerce Committee unanimously last week, grassroots outreach is still needed to build support in the House and Senate. HF 729 will provide transparency and fairness in PBM pricing methodologies and afford patients protection from detrimental PBM practices.
A fiscal analysis performed by the Legislative Services Agency was finished this week and estimated a substantial cost to the state. IPA needs your help in contacting legislators to push back on the notion that PBM transparency will raise costs and patient premiums. Please reach out to your legislators to ask for their support and highlight:
-
While PBMs allege transparency will raise patient premiums, this has not been validated in states that have passed similar legislation.
-
PBMs have evolved into behemoth corporations that affect nearly all aspects of the prescription drug marketplace, detrimentally impacting pharmacies and patients.
-
PBM reform is needed to ensure pharmacies can continue serving their patients and are not forced to close their doors.

Each week throughout the session, we will keep you updated in the +1 section of the TOP 5. IPA provides a bill tracker, listing all bills IPA is following on behalf of our members.
