Help us welcome Ryan McClellan, PharmD, SHIMSS, Vice President of Professional Affairs!
The Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) welcomes Ryan McClellan, PharmD, SHIMSS, as the association's Vice President of Professional Affairs.With over 18 years in life sciences, Ryan has worked in various medical affairs operations and field medical roles. His most recent position was Senior Director of US Medical Excellence at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, where he led Systems and Analytics.
Before entering life sciences, Ryan worked as a primary care and critical care pharmacist in the VA healthcare system and taught as an assistant professor at Drake University. His extensive medical affairs background has given him a deep understanding of the field, allowing him to excel in creating value stories that drive strategic initiatives while focusing on innovation and operational excellence.
Ryan's expertise covers a wide range of areas, including medical operations, digital solutions and tools, and data analytics. This unique skill set enables him to provide solutions that use actionable insights to bring strategic value to the organizations he works with.
Ryan is dedicated to innovation and uses continuous improvement to enhance outcomes through his work. His commitment to excellence and ability to deliver impactful results define his professional journey, and he looks forward to applying his skills and experience to new challenges.
An Iowa native, Ryan holds a BS in Chemistry from Loras College and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He completed an ASHP Accredited Specialty Residency in Primary Care from the Veterans Health Services and Research Administration and is a senior member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
Ryan will officially start with IPA on Monday, August 26th.
