As the 2025-2026 IPA Executive Fellow, Spencer will support the work of the association, gaining experience in leadership, advocacy, professional affairs, and problem-solving. He will engage with pharmacy leaders, policy makers, state agencies and other organizations to advance the role of the pharmacist in healthcare. Spencer will officially start on June 23, 2025.
“I'm excited to be joining the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) as the Executive Fellow! As a student at Ohio Northern University, I have been exposed to many leadership opportunities and a wide variety of professional learning experiences. I've had a desire to pursue association management since my freshman year. The policy development and advocacy opportunities that associations are involved in propel the profession forward and promote quality patient care.
I became involved with student leadership early in my college career, ranging from representing my peers on Student Senate, to amending bylaws and improving workflow in student organizations, to advocating for public health programs on campus. Classes in public health, rural and underserved care, and pharmacy advocacy, as well as many of my advanced pharmacy practice experiences, have shown me the overwhelming prevalence of health disparities. I believe pharmacies and associations are essential and uniquely positioned to address health disparities and fill community needs. I'm looking forward to working with IPA to empower pharmacists and shape the future of the pharmacy profession.”
The IPA Executive Fellowship in Association Management was started in 2016 to support the development of individuals interested in association management. IPA Executive Fellows are well prepared for leadership positions in a variety of settings in the profession of pharmacy and healthcare.
