Iowa Pharmacist Bob Greenwood Awarded NCPA’s 2025 Dargavel Medal

IPA member and past president Bob Greenwood was awarded the 2025 John W. Dargavel Medal at NCPA's Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA. This prestigious award recognizes an individual whose contributions on behalf of independent pharmacy embody the spirit of leadership and accomplishment personified by John W. Dargavel.

IPA member Robert (Bob) Greenwood was awarded the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Foundation's highest honor at its 2025 Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA. On October 20, Greenwood received the 2025 John W. Dargavel Medal, recognizing an individual whose contributions on behalf of independent pharmacy embody the spirit of leadership and accomplishment personified by John W. Dargavel, Executive Secretary of the National Association of Retail Druggists (now NCPA) from 1933-1961. This award is sponsored by McKesson Corporation.

Greenwood is a longstanding supporter and pillar of Iowa pharmacy. He is a 1977 pharmacy graduate of Creighton University and current member of the university's Board of Trustees. Greenwood owns and operates Greenwood Drug Inc. and Greenwood Compounding, Osterhaus Pharmacy, and Denver Drug in northeast Iowa. He has mentored many students over the years as a preceptor for the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and Creighton University School of Pharmacy. Greenwood has been and continues to be a powerful advocate for pharmacy, serving as President of NCPA from 2010 to 2011 and IPA from 2015 to 2016.
