The 2019 Legislative Session Starts Today: What You Can Do

The 2019 Iowa legislative session kicks off today, are you ready?
The 2019 Iowa legislative session kicks off today, and IPA will be at the capitol every day of the session pushing our priorities and making sure your interests are heard on any relevant meetings or proposed legislation.

IPA's legislative priorities build on last year's momentum to grow and strengthen the practice of pharmacy in Iowa.

Watch IPA communications and the “+1” feature in our weekly Top 5 e-newsletter for updates or action alerts as we move these initiatives forward.

What Can I Do?

Glad you asked! As IPA advocates for you and our priorities during the session, there are a few things you can do to aid our efforts:

Contact your legislators – Relationships are vital, so introduce yourself or reintroduce yourself to your legislator. (Find your legislators here)

Donate to the IPPAC – Your contributions to the IPPAC help IPA strengthen relationships with key legislators. Contribute here.

Donate to the LDF -  Since corporations are prohibited from contributing to candidates (and therefore, the IPPAC), these funds are used to pay for advocacy activities, which include IPA's Legislative Day and Capitol Screenings, contracted lobbyists and external consultants, and IPPAC administration and fundraising costs. Contribute here.

Attend IPA Legislative Day – A day at the Capitol to advocate face-to-face and educate legislators about these important initiatives. Register here.

Become a Champion Advocate – Help IPA advance our advocacy efforts by committing to building a strong relationship with your state legislators. More info here.

Get ready for grassroots – Throughout the session, IPA will send advocacy alerts containing specific grassroots actions needed, including contact information and talking points to reach out to your legislators.

Talk to your provider colleagues – In most pharmacy practices, pharmacists already have strong collaborative relationships with physicians and other providers. Ask for their support so that you can continue aiding them in providing the best care to their patient population.

If you have any questions about IPA's advocacy efforts, contact Casey Ficek, IPA's director of public affairs, at 515-270-0713 or cficek@iarx.org
