Committee work continues to ramp up as the March 5 funnel deadline approaches. So far, IPA's priorities have already advanced out of the funnel and will be eligible for further consideration. This includes Board of Pharmacy's bill,
SSB 1111, which advanced out of the Senate Human Resources committee this week. The bill would update pilot project authority for the Board of Pharmacy and broaden the delegation of technical functions under a pharmacist.

Major legislation to address detrimental PBM practices was finally introduced in Iowa Legislature this week. HSB 228 intends to limit negative reimbursement for pharmacies, restrict onerous PBM fees, denials, and copayments, and afford patients protection from detrimental PBM practices. IPA expects a subcommittee to be held on the bill early next week. A strong grassroots push will be critical to gain support for this bill. Look for an Advocacy Alert from IPA at the start of the next week or reach out to IPA for support to help put you in contact with your legislator.

Each week throughout the session, we will keep you updated in the +1 section of the TOP 5. IPA provides a bill tracker, listing all bills IPA is following on behalf of our members.
